The History Whisperer, A Victorian tragedy
A Victorian Tragedy: Poverty, Injustice, and Loss
St George’s Hall has to be my favourite Victorian landmark in Liverpool, and an immersive captivating exhibition is available for booking today: The History Whisperer.
The History Whisperer follows the story of a young girl named Livie, who lived in the 19th century.
Livie’s family fled the Irish famine and found refuge in Liverpool, a city that was once considered the wealthiest in the world.
Livie’s Dad worked on the construction of St Georges Hall, but their lives changed dramatically when Livie’s Mum fell ill. Desperate to keep his wife warm, Livie’s Dad stole a blanke. This led to his arrest and a life sentence in an Australian penal colony.
The History Whisperer unveils the harsh realities of Victorian life. This exhibition opens the doors to the holding cells where prisoners were often crammed in inhumane conditions, waiting to hear their fate.
Visiting St Georges Hall History Whisperer Exhibition is an opportunity to walk the same path as those accused of a crime. An opportunity to stand in the dock of the courtroom.
Imagine facing a judge who could seal your seat in an instant. The sentencing of children also.
The exhibition offers a glimpse into the dramatic courtroom scenes of the past, where justice was often swift and severe. Its unimaginable to feel the desperation or fear of those sentenced to exile never to return home, and see their loved ones again.
The History Whisperer is a must-see for those who are interested in learning about the Liverpool’s past. Suitable for both children and adults.
Don’t miss this opportunity to discover the fascinating stories hidden within the walls of St George’s Hall. Take the kids. Take the Grandkids. Highly recommended.
