Dark, and Whimsical – Matthew Bourne Magic
“A Gothic Romance”
Its always good to try new trips and events, because, without trying it, you will never really know just how much you’re going to love it … as we did!
We were hooked from the start. With mystical stage sets, and dazzling costumes, this performance was going to be anything but a traditional Sleeping Beauty ballet performance.
As one of our group said “Our seats were so good, that we could see fit young men, with raven black hair, dancing bare foot and wearing guy liner”. I was delighted to read this.
Sleeping Matthew, Matthew Bourne’s New Adventure was spectacular. Very mysterious, with puppets that were both clever and funny at times all rolled into one!
A supernatural love story performed effortlessly, with no words, and a performance that transported us back to the Edwardian Era filled with mystery and intrigue at every turn.
Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty was a mesmerizing blend of ballet, theatre, and entertainment that goes beyond storytelling.
A masterclass in atmosphere, to the haunting and ethereal world it creates. From the beauty of the stage sets to the intricate puppetry, both crafted to draw the audience in deeper to the tale.
A pre-theatre dinner with friends was the perfect prelude to such a magical performance. An opportunity for the anticipation to build and create lasting memories. So, whether you’re a seasons ballet aficionado or a newcomer to ballet, Sleeping Beauty will leave a lasting impression.
