Intrigue, Suspense, and Prosecco

Did you miss our recent Titanic Murder Mystery Afternoon Tea? Picture this: clinking champagne flutes, a dash of suspense, and a spot of theatrical flair – This Culture Calendar event was a recipe for unforgettable whodunit fun!

The moment we set sail onboard the Titanic (metaphorically, of course), we were swept into a world of intrigue. Fellow passengers (aka our wonderful members) quickly found themselves engrossed in lively debates and playful interrogations. As we savored a delicious afternoon tea, clues and motives swirled around us, with a red herring or two thrown in for good measure.

This was an interactive themed theatrical dinner at its best.  A whodunnit dinner party that we won’t forget, even though the plot thickened with each course.

The talented actors brought the story to life, their convincing performances leaving us guessing until the very end. During the interval, it was time to put our sleuthing skills to the test! We grilled the suspects, dissecting their alibis and uncovering hidden agendas.

Suspenseful twists, surprising reveals, and laugh-out-loud moments kept us on the edge of our seats. It was an adventure on the high seas (well, a beautifully decorated function room!) a stage set we won’t forget in a hurry.

Based on the overwhelming feedback, we’ll be hosting another Murder Mystery Afternoon Tea soon – so get ready to flex your detective muscles once more!

Our next Murder Mystery Dining event will be a stately event for Gold Card Members.  A skillfully performed performance made for deceiving actors, actresses, and audiences.

“If I could turn back time”

Believe! Our Culture Calendar Coach Trip to The Cher Show at The Palace Theatre Manchester was magical.

Calling all musical theatre fans! Did you know we were booked, with fantastic tickets, and luxury return coach travel in style, picking up in Southport, Ormskirk, Maghull and Skelmersdale?

Culture Calendar’s luxury coach trip to The Palace Theatre Manchester was an absolute triumph.  A day and night that really has left us with fantastic memories.

Imagine us picking up friends enroute and giving a cheer when we picked up at each coach pick up point.   Our job was to whisk you away in comfort, safety and style on board this luxury Mercedes Sprinter vehicle.  Surrounded by a vibrant community of women, all buzzing with excitement for a night of dazzling costumes, powerhouse vocals, and a captivating story.

The Cher Show wasn’t your average stage performance biopic. This clever musical takes a unique approach, featuring three actresses portraying Cher at different stages of her legendary career. The thrilling journey of Cherilyn Sarkisian, from her humble beginnings to her meteoric rise as a global icon. Prepare to be wowed by talented artists, a phenomenal live band, and a show that simply doesn’t let up.

But the magic started long before the final curtain call ladies, as Culture Calendar purposely planned upto 3 hours leisure to spend as you please in the heart of Manchester before this evening performance.  An opportunity to shop ‘til you drop, indulge in a delicious pre-theatre meal, or simply wander the streets, soaking up the atmosphere.

The best part? The electrifying energy at the show was contagious! The entire stalls area, including our group, was on their feet, singing along, dancing, and clapping with unbridled joy.

We witnessed three artists portraying the life and times of Cher, belting out one hit record after another.  “I got you babe”, “Take me home”, “I feel something in the air”, “Love and understanding” “Strong Enough”, “A woman’s story”, and last but by no means least “I got you babe”.  It was an experience brought even the newest of members together.

The Andrea Bocelli Music Concert in Liverpool was awe-inspiring. This legendary Italian tenor, known for his unique blend of opera and pop, and such an accomplished musician, he will leave you breathless.

His ability to seamlessly blend the richness of Italian opera with contemporary pop melodies which creates a unique blend of music.  Whether you’re a seasoned opera aficionado or simply appreciate exceptional music, Andrea Bocelli singing live is guaranteed to leave a lasting impression.

Having witnessed Andrea Bocelli perform live several times, I can confidently say it’s an experience unlike any other. Andrea’s sang at one point, without accompaniment, orchestra, or microphone in the M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool.   This music stadium that seats 11,000 people, and yet Andrea’s voice could be heard so clear.  Andrea Bocelli’s voice is a force of nature, capable of captivating an audience of 11,000 people.   This was a spine-tingling moment for Culture Calendar ladies group.

Adding another heartwarming element to the concert is the inclusion of his talented son, Matteo Bocelli. Their performance together on the “I Believe” Tour created a special family moment, not to mention shared artistry and talent.

Our recent Culture Calendar Ladies’ trip to the Andrea Bocelli concert in Liverpool was a resounding success! We arrived early, allowing plenty of time to enjoy a pre-concert dinner and drinks. While the focus was undoubtedly the phenomenal performance, a touch of lighthearted fun before the stage performance ensured that we were already off to a flying start.

Sizzle and Sass: The allure of Chicago the Musical

Bedazzled by a timeless classic.  Chicago the Musical.  Its captivating.  So many characters.  Songs from the Musical: “Razzle Dazzle” “Mr Cellophane” “Funny Honey” “Cell Block Tango”.

 Ambitious young women / actresses, and the unforgettable theme jazz tunes.  Culture Calendar booked excellent seats to see Chicago The Musical at The Winter Gardens Theatre in Blackpool to witness this iconic stage production.  Even though I had previously seen this very same performance in Liverpool …. it was that good!

Chicago the Musical is rooted in the 1920’s events of Chicago, and tells the story of Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly.  Two murderesses vying for fame and freedom set in the confines of the county jail.

Chicago the Musical is full of suspense, and theatrics.  A sassy performance that was inspired by real-life murderesses Beulah Annan and Belva Gaertner, and Chicago the Musical touches on the manipulative power of celebrity and deceipt.

Chicago the Musical is a classic with its energetic choreography, catchy tunes, and witty dialogue, it will have you captivating with stage magic from start to finish.

A guaranteed crowd pleaser, Chicago the Musical is the longest-running Broadway musical, but its fair to say that Culture Calendar did a bit of crowd pleasing on the day themselves, as we teamed this event with a three hour stop at pretty coastal resort of Lytham St Annes before this evening performance.

Members had the option to shop until they drop, wine and dine at their leisure, or take a scenic walk along the coast, with ample time to relax with fellow musical lovers, not to mention a pre-theatre drink or two.

With fantastic company and a group that already knew each other well, the evening was filled with laughter even as members boarded the luxury coach.   However, the highlight had to be the side splitting comedy night that left us in stitches.  This particular coach trip was one that was voted for by Culture Calendar members, and Catherine arranged the rest!

I signed up solo, as many women do.  But this was definitely the best possible way to spend a Sunday.  Being picked up by luxury coach.  Delicious food with great friends.  Plenty of vino for those that wanted it, and a side-splitting evening performance voted for by Culture Calendar Members!  I mean.  What more could you ask for?  Culture Calendar provides such a welcome and sense of belonging, its so unique and it’s totally worth it!

The Royal Court Christmas Adult Panto is an unforgettable festive tradition, in Liverpool.

A silly performance.  Funny.  Full of laughter, and relatable Liverpool humour and content – definitely not for the kids!

This is a pantomime on a different level folks brimming with laugh out loud moments, and colourful characters.  From topical jokes to iconic Scouse wit, its a performance that will capture the cities vibrant spirit.

From Dinner to Diva at The Peacock

Well, I wasn’t expecting that!

A culinary adventure at The Peacock Restaurant, Ormskirk.  Delectable cuisine, laughter, and a few unexpected surprises.

Is it strange the some ladies can meet for the first time and get on like a house on fire, because that is exactly what happened on this night!   But it’s not a one off ladies.  It happens all the time!

A perfect blend of delicious food, great entertainment, and social interaction.    A tantalizing array of chinese banquet dishes.  From savory dim sum to tasty main courses.  A food dish with a symphony of flavours, textures and aroma’s, with my favourite being Fillet Steak Cantonese Style.

Oh the melt-in-your-mouth tenderness of the steak, perfectly complemented by the sweet and savory Cantonese sauce. Just writing about it makes my mouth water again!

But from Dinner to Diva – lets talk about our shining stars on the night!

While the phenomenal food was a highlight, the evening took an unexpected turn when we discovered the hidden talents within our Culture Calendar group! Little did we know that a simple dinner would transform into a night of karaoke revelry.

One by one, our ladies took to the stage, showcasing their impressive singing and dancing abilities. The entire restaurant buzzed with an electric atmosphere as we cheered each other on. The camaraderie and fun was contagious with everyone in the restaurant singing along and clapping!

Culture Calendar’s Karaoke Queens:

Most surprisingly, our group’s collective talent didn’t go unnoticed! Our spirited performances not only entertained the entire restaurant but even led one lady to win the karaoke competition on the night.  Well done to Catherine Hatch.

This unforgettable evening at The Peacock left us with countless memories, and a heartwarming realization that every single person has something to offer the next.

The ambiance was truly magical – a stage adorned with flowers bathed in the warm glow of candlelight. It’s a truly special experience perfect for a midweek escape.

Accessibility note: While St George’s Hall offers a stunning backdrop, The Concert Room is accessed by a spiral staircase, making The Concert Room a less suitable venue for those with mobility issues.

The concert itself was a delightful hour and a quarter, with a short intermission for socializing and planning future adventures with Culture Calendar. The best part? We had convenient pick-up points in Southport, Ormskirk, Maghull, Skelmersdale, and Burscough, making it easy to join the fun!
