Music by Candlelight, Coldplay String Quartet
Classical music concerts aren’t just classical music. Candlelit Music Concerts have opened up a whole new arena of opportunity for musicians to perform live to some of the most popular and iconic pop songs, often in the most iconic and historical venues.
On this occasion, we went to see a Cold Play Tribute, in The Iconic Concert Room at St Georges Hall, Liverpool, and I have to say, it was a sheer joy! A venue so significant, we were surrounded by grandeur, and this Liverpool Landmark is on our doorstep too!
But sshhhh …. as the lights went down, the music loving audience fell silent (many with a drink in their hand lol), as we waited in anticipation of those first chords. What song will it be? Surrounded by friends old and new, but each of us, music lovers and most definitely fans of live entertainment.
The stage was glowing with tiny little t lights and it was clear that those performing had gone to great lengths to create a magical ambience. The String Quartet then entered the stage, took their seats, and gave a brief introduction about who they were, and where they were from.
It was a magical performance, although the time flew, and before we had time to say “Sky full of stars” we were talking about what other performers, and performances may have taken place there over the past 150 years of entertainment.
What magnificent events will take place there in the future. It felt great to be part of the moment. Our little piece of history, and most definitely a night of Culture. We loved every moment of this event, and we are looking to returning to St Georges Hall Liverpool again, very soon.
