Book of Dust – National Theatre Live
Culture Calendar’s Ladies Social Group had the opportunity to see a National Theatre Live streaming of “Book of Dust”.
Based on Philip Pullman’s acclaimed novel, this production was a captivating and immersive experience that exceeded all expectation.
If you’re a fan of fantasy and theatre, “Book of Dust” is a must-see. The play, performed in front of a live audience, transported us to a world filled with adventure, danger, and extraordinary characters.
A simple stage design, but full of special effects, which provided a truly immersive experience. “Book of Dust” Play was so cleverly produced, directed, and acted.
One of the highlights of the performance was the exceptional performances of the two young actors who played the central characters. They had such chemistry, it really brought the story telling to life, even on the tiniest of stages.
Similar to the movie, “The Golden Compass”, this book adaptation included puppets as demons, which really added an air of magic and wonder to the performance.
It was heartwarming to see a coach party of school children attending the same performance at Edge Hill University, Ormskirk. Their enthusiasm and behavior throughout the show were admirable.
But, even the most well-behaved students couldn’t entirely escape the watchful eye of their teachers. We couldn’t help but chuckle as one teacher gently reprimanded a couple of children for chatting during the interval.
“Book of Dust” was an enchanting and entertaining stage performance that most definitely left its audience hungry for more. Culture Calendar cannot recommend highly enough this National Theatre Live production.
“Book of Dust” is coming to a local cinema near you, so don’t miss your chance to be transported to this magical world. It’s a unanimous thumbs up from Culture Calendar.
