Craving adventure, culture, and connection? Culture Calendar Women’s Social Club offers bespoke coach trips, cultural events, and local meet-ups—perfect for solo traveller’s seeking new friendships. Unlike generic tours, Culture Calendar Members vote on the Live Performances they love, from theatre, musicals, and concerts to fine dining and VIP red-carpet events.

Finding Your Tribe

When we first built the foundation for Culture Calendar, we didn’t just design a group for a specific “type” of person.  We threw the doors wide open to a beautiful, vibrant spectrum of individuals.

We welcomed everyone. Tall ones, short ones, funny ones, shy ones, loud ones, incredibly colourful ones, quiet ones, and grey ones.

Every single character who stepped through our doors brought a completely unique energy. Some were natural extroverts ready to light up the room, while others were deeply reserved, taking a quiet, brave step back into the social world. But no matter where they sat on the spectrum, they found a safe space to land with Culture Calendar.

Bringing such a diverse mix of personalities together might seem like a challenge, but we discovered a secret ingredient: the unifying power of arts and live entertainment.

Whether we were sitting front row at a high-energy music concert, laughing until it hurt at a comedy night, or experiencing the high drama of live theatre experiences, those shared moments became the ultimate equalizer. In the shared laughter, the standing ovations, and the quiet moments of awe, the differences melted away. We found our common ground.

Nurturing Self-Discovery and True Stories

More than just filling seats at events, our true mission was nurturing human connection.  With many of our group joining us solo, Culture Calendar became an environment where women truly listened to one another.

By listening to the stories that formed people to be exactly who they were, we also opened a doorway for them to discover who they wanted to be.

Witnessing the personal transformations within our community was the ultimate reward. We watched as members underwent a profound journey of self-discovery, emerging as:

  • More Outgoing: Finding their voice and coming out of their shells in a supportive space.

  • More Ambitious: Reclaiming their personal goals, dreams, and creative pursuits.

  • Empowered: Overcoming the deeply ingrained guilt of prioritizing themselves. They realized that taking time for their own mental health, wellbeing and happiness wasn’t selfish—it was essential.

A New Chapter for Every Character—Anywhere in the World

While Culture Calendar has officially stepped away from physical coach travel and local groups, our fascination with human character and diverse storytelling has only grown. We have taken this exact spirit of inclusivity and channeled it into our new online pursuits.

No matter who you are—whether you are a loud, colourful extrovert, introvert, or a reflective soul—your story matters here. You don’t need a coach ticket to find your tribe anymore; you just need an internet connection.

Are you ready to prioritize yourself and step into your own journey of self-discovery, diving deeper into Culture Calendar Podcast “Beyond the Spotlight” where we celebrate voices and stories from London to Los Angeles.

Reclaiming Yourself

When family life is busy, it is incredibly easy to lose a piece of yourself along the way. Between managing a household, raising children, and navigating daily responsibilities, the things that once brought us joy—like live music, theatre nights, and cultural escapes—often get pushed to the back burner.

That was exactly where 58-year-old Angela found herself when she recently relocated to West Lancashire. With her children grown up and her weekends suddenly feeling quiet, life felt a bit daunting, and she deeply missed the buzz of the arts scene.

Then, she took a brave step and discovered Culture Calendar.

Rebuilding Confidence and Prioritizing Mental Health

Angela initially booked for one. Walking into a new environment after a major life change takes courage, but from her very first local ice-breaker get-together, the nerves completely vanished.

There were no awkward moments—just warm smiles, shared laughs, and a room full of women who understood exactly what it felt like to navigate a new chapter in life. Angela quickly found herself surrounded by people she genuinely connected with.

Through our beautifully planned theatre trips, music concerts, and premium dining experiences across Merseyside and West Lancashire, Angela’s world completely opened up. What happened next went far deeper than just filling a social calendar:

  • Her confidence soared: Stepping out of her comfort zone allowed Angela to rediscover her independent, vibrant self.

  • A win for mental health: Moving to a new area can feel isolating, but the deep camaraderie and laughter she found became a powerful antidote to loneliness.

  • Reclaiming a lost passion: She fell back in love with the arts, beautifully balancing her love for her family with a newfound dedication to her own happiness.

As Angela beautifully put it: “Joining Culture Calendar wasn’t just about attending events. It was about feeling welcome, rebuilding a social life, and making unforgettable memories.”

The Legacy That Drives Our Online Community

While Culture Calendar has officially retired our luxury coach trips and transitioned away from the traditional women’s social club format, Angela’s story is the heartbeat of why we exist.

The incredible transformation she experienced—growing in confidence, improving her mental health, and finding joy in culture—is the exact same magic we are now channeling into our online pursuits. We are taking that powerful spirit of connection and bringing it to a global scale through digital storytelling, journaling, and the podcasting world.

Angela’s journey proves that no matter how daunting a new phase of life might seem, you are only ever one connection away from finding your spark again.

Did you lose a passion for the arts during the busy years of family life, or have you ever had to rebuild your confidence after a big move? We would love to hear your story?

To stay connected with our welcoming community, tune into the Culture Calendar Podcast, “Beyond the Spotlight,” available from London to Los Angeles.

Booking Solo

There was a time when booking a ticket alone felt like a daunting hurdle. For years, women across Merseyside and West Lancashire faced the same frustration: wanting to experience vibrant live theatre, music concerts, and cultural events, but lacking the network to go with.

That is exactly why Culture Calendar opened its doors. We became a warm gateway for unforgettable days and nights, welcoming women from every walk of life.

Whether they were married, single, divorced, widowed, separated, dedicated carer’s, lone workers, or empty nesters whose children had just flown the nest—our mission was simple: eliminate the barrier of booking solo or solo cultural travel and turn it into an invitation to find your tribe.

From Solo Seats to a Formidable Community

Understanding that booking solo could still feel a little daunting, I made sure no one ever walked into a main event feeling like a stranger. Long before our all-day or all-night coach trips set off, I organized a regular vibrant lineup of local, smaller get-togethers to completely break the ice.

From relaxed cinema nights to endless opportunities for wining and dining, these casual gatherings were the perfect backdrop for women to chat, laugh, and naturally gravitate toward those they shared things in common with. By the time the big theatre trip or concert arrived, the nerves were gone—replaced entirely by the excitement of travelling with a group of genuine friends.

Together, we have shared standing ovations, red-carpet evenings, and joyful dinners before the curtain call. What started as a solo venture blossomed into a powerful community of local women supporting one another through major life transitions—relocation, retirement, or simply a desire to explore the arts.

Through luxury coach travel and hand-picked dining, we proved that all it takes is one ticket, one smile, and one seat at the theatre to feel part of something deeply special.

Our New Chapter: Connecting Communities Online

While those legendary coach trips have come to a close and Culture Calendar is no longer operating as a local women’s social group, the core of what we built hasn’t changed. We haven’t stopped bringing people together; we’ve simply expanded our horizon.

Today, Culture Calendar has transitioned into a dynamic, inclusive online space dedicated to global community connection, creative journaling, and digital storytelling. We have taken the exact same warmth, camaraderie, and passion for the arts that filled our theatre trips and channeled it into our new digital pursuits.

How to Follow Our Online Journey Today

You no longer need to live in West Lancashire or Merseyside to be a part of our tribe. No matter where you are in the world, or what your life circumstances may be, you can connect with us instantly:

From Hobby to Haven

What began as a simple online post in 2013 has blossomed into something extraordinary. Over the last decade, Culture Calendar has evolved from a passionate hobby into a trusted haven and a vital social club for women over 40.

In the beginning, we focused on bringing women together through coach trips, exploring the finest performing arts, music concerts, comedy nights, and cultural events. But after more than 10 years of building this community, our mission has grown. Today, Culture Calendar has transitioned into a dynamic digital space, championing community connection through online podcasting, storytelling, and journalling.

A Trusted Leader in Community Connection

Steering this community for over a decade has been a privilege. It has earned us the right to stand proud as a leader in bringing communities together—creating spaces where women don’t just network, but truly belong.

We saw the true power of this connection during the pandemic. By pivoting to a private Facebook group, we offered virtual tours and forward-looking hope that kept spirits high. As one member beautifully shared, Culture Calendar was a literal lifeline during a time of deep personal struggle. We have always been, and always will be, so much more than just event planners; we are a beacon of support.

Beyond the Spotlight: Open for Global Collaborations

As we embrace our digital future, our walls have completely expanded.

Exciting News: The Culture Calendar Podcast, “Beyond the Spotlight,” is officially live! We are actively open to exciting new collaborations, cross-border storytelling, and creative partnerships from London to Los Angeles.

Whether you’ve been with us since the early coach trips or you are just discovering our podcast and journaling community today, we invite you to be part of our next chapter.

Follow the Culture Calendar Journey today, by tuning into “Beyond the Spotlight” Podcast, and let’s explore arts, culture, and community together!

Remembering The Titanic Murder Mystery Champagne Afternoon Tea

Looking back at our event archives, memories shine brightly for the Titanic Murder Mystery Champagne Afternoon Tea. Hosted in the heart of the region, this interactive theatrical experience brought together a brilliant crowd from Merseyside and West Lancashire for an unforgettable day of live theatre, luxury dining, and suspense.

While Culture Calendar has officially retired our coach trips and evolved past the traditional women’s social group format, the magical memories of days like this will stay with us forever.

For one spectacular afternoon, our community stepped into history—and into a thrilling whodunit. Sipping premium champagne and enjoying a stylish afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings, guests quickly transformed into a formidable team of amateur detectives.

Alongside a talented cast of live actors, the room was buzzing with unexpected plot twists. The team spirit was absolutely palpable and surprisingly competitive as everyone joined forces to:

  • Analyze complex clues and hidden motives.

  • Share theories over delicate finger sandwiches and scones.

  • Debate who the true culprit was before the final curtain call.

It was more than just a cultural social outing; it was an extraordinary display of camaraderie, connection, and storytelling.

The Evolution of Culture Calendar

The incredible energy from events like the Titanic Murder Mystery proved just how powerful our community is when we connect over the arts. It is that exact passion for storytelling and shared experiences that has fueled our transition into online podcasting, “Beyond the Spotlight” digital storytelling, and journaling.

We may not be boarding the coaches anymore, but the spirit of culture, comaraderie and connection lives on in everything we do online.

Escaping the Daily Grind

Sometimes, a single moment can stop you in your tracks and remind you exactly why you do what you do.

For me, sometimes it arrives in the form of a simple thank you card, a stunning bouquet of tulips, and a wave of heartfelt appreciation. In the busy rush of creating and curating, it sometimes feel like efforts go unnoticed. But that kind gesture was a beautiful reminder that gratitude and kindness have a ripple effect. It proved that the community was always listening.

More than that, it reinforced a universal truth: friendship, connection, and shared experiences play a vital role in supporting mental health and emotional well-being.

Why We All Need to Escape the Daily Grind

Life comes at us fast, and it often brings heavy transitions. Over the years, Culture Calendar became a sanctuary for women navigating some of life’s most challenging chapters in Liverpool, West Lancashire, and beyond:

  • The Overwhelmed: Busy mums and professionals desperately juggling work-life balance.

  • The Isolated: Remote workers who spend days staring at screens without speaking to a soul, or those newly relocated to Merseyside trying to build a life from scratch.

  • The Transitioning: Empty nesters adjusting to a quiet house after the kids have flown the nest.

  • The Caregivers: Selfless individuals looking after a poorly relative who need to be looked after, too.

  • The Grieving: Those navigating the heavy, heartbreaking road of bereavement after losing a partner, friend, or loved one.

  • The Culturally Independent: Married ladies whose partners simply don’t share their passion for theatre, as well as single, divorced, or separated women looking to inject some fun back into life.

When you are stuck in these cycles, your world can shrink. That is where the magic of live entertainment, arts, and culture comes in. Stepping into a theatre for some of the bests musicals, a night of ballet, comedy or concert isn’t just a night out—it is a vital escape from the daily grind.

It’s an invitation to turn off your worries, sit in the dark, and let live performance boost your confidence, reduce loneliness, provide upliftment and evoke pure joy.

That thank you card reminded me of the tangible difference we made by bringing together a supportive, like-minded community. It proved that we all need a space where we can dip in and out as we please, feeling welcomed as if no time at all has passed.

As Culture Calendar evolves into an online storytelling platform, podcast, and journaling hub, our mission hasn’t changed—it has just grown.

We are taking those profound themes of health and wellbeing, mental health,  community and bringing them to a worldwide audience. We know that whether you are in the UK, or the other side of the globe, the need for cultural connection is exactly the same.

Live performance has the unique ability to heal, to spark creativity, and to create a profound sense of belonging. Through our new creative writing, global storytelling, and upcoming podcasts Beyond the Spotlight UK, we are dedicated to celebrating performing arts as a tool for mental wellness and joy.

Join the Global Conversation

The curtain is up on this new chapter of Culture Calendar, and we are officially open to global collaborations.

If you are an arts professional, a mental health advocate, a writer, or a creator who believes in the healing power of live entertainment and community, we want to hear from you. Let’s use the power of storytelling to uplift readers across the world.

Has a live theatre show or a musical ever completely changed your mood or helped you through a tough time? How do you escape the daily grind?  We would love to know how live entertainment continues to inspire you!

Tangible proof of friendship and unforgettable memories

Amidst tables filled with classic Eggs Benedict, trendy avocado toast, and warm, gooey cinnamon rolls, I was caught completely off guard. I was grateful beyond words to receive a stunning, surprise bouquet of flowers from the incredible ladies at the table.

How very kind and thoughtful. It truly made my day, but it did something even deeper: it stood as tangible proof of the friendships and unforgettable moments shared at our events. It reinforced the immense value of community and gave me a beautiful opportunity to reflect on what I’ve learned by taking the time to truly listen to what people love about live entertainment, arts, and culture.

In a world that can often feel heavy and demanding, live performance offers a rare and beautiful sanctuary of pure joy. Whether it’s a roaring comedy, a breathtaking musical, or a powerful drama, the collective experience of sharing laughter and emotion in a crowded theatre is unmatched. Taking the time to listen to others reminded me that this joy isn’t a luxury—it is essential for our emotional health and well-being and a vital escape from the daily grind.

Perhaps the most profound lesson I have learned is that the performing arts, creativity and entertainment has the unique power to change and enrich lives.

Over the years, Culture Calendar focused heavily on encouraging people who might otherwise be booking solo to venture somewhere they might never have gone alone.

By listening to their journeys, I saw firsthand how stepping out of a comfort zone to experience world-class theatre can completely transform a person. It boosts confidence, sparks new creative passions, and shatters the weight of isolation. Witnessing someone realize they are no longer alone because of a shared cultural experience is reward indeed, and for them, it can be northing short of life-changing.

In this next act, whilst Culture Calendar is evolving away from local group bookings, we’re stepping into a new exciting era of online storytelling, global theatre and entertainment podcasting, and creative writing, for these lessons are the foundation of our future.

“Flawless  – A Premium Cultural Experience”

One of my most cherished memories from Culture Calendar’s history was a beautifully curated trip to see The Cher Show at Manchester’s iconic Palace Theatre. The production itself was a powerhouse tribute, featuring dazzling costume changes, powerhouse vocals, and a moving storyline brought to life by three incredible actresses portraying different eras of the icon’s life. From I Got You Babe to Strong Enough, the energy was so contagious that the audience was dancing in the aisles.

As we walked out of the theatre, one of the ladies turned to me with a massive smile and said: “If I could turn back time, I would do it all over again!”

Hearing those words, backed by rave reviews from everyone who joined us, was incredibly rewarding. But looking back, that spectacular day wasn’t just a win—it was a masterclass in what it takes to create a truly seamless, cultural experience.

Evolving from Logistics to Global Storytelling

While Culture Calendar is no longer running luxury coach trips the years of expertise behind those events haven’t gone anywhere.

Designing those high-end, tailored cultural adventures taught me exactly what makes a production succeed, how audiences connect with live entertainment, and what it takes to truly appreciate the arts.

Today, Culture Calendar is channeling that deep industry expertise into a new chapter: an international storytelling platform, podcast “Beyond the Spotlight UK” and journaling hub.

We are trading the physical coach for a global digital stage. I am using my years of experience to review world-class productions, interview ambitious young actors and creatives, and collaborate with arts organizations worldwide to bring you exclusive insights into the cultural scene.

Culture Calendar is open to Global Arts & Culture Collaborations

Because we understand the inner workings of live entertainment, premium hospitality, and audience engagement, Culture Calendar is uniquely positioned as an expert voice in the creative industry.

We are officially open to global collaborations with:

  • Theatre Productions & PR Teams: For expert reviews, features, and promotional storytelling.

  • Arts & Lifestyle Podcasters: To discuss the evolution of the arts scene and the impact of live entertainment on well-being.

  • Creatives and Writers: Who want to contribute to a platform that genuinely understands the heartbeat of the theatre world.

Though we’ve taken our final bow on the coach tours, the curtain is officially up on a massive new era of global arts journalism. Thank you to everyone who shared those red-carpet moments with us—we’re taking that same sparkle worldwide.

All Aboard for a Timeless Day Out: The Ultimate Vintage Steam Train Dining Experience

Have you ever dreamed of stepping back in time, hearing the whistle blow, and watching the stunning English countryside roll past your window from a beautifully restored heritage carriage?

Historically, booking a vintage steam train dining experience might have been a bit of a logistical headache, because heritage stations are often hidden deep in the countryside – making them notoriously difficult to get to.

Coordinating busy traffic, navigating unfamiliar rural roads, and challenges over who has to be the designated driver can tquickly turn to disappointment.

That’s exactly why we created this experience. Culture Calendar took care of all the logistics, leaving you to focus entirely on the luxury, the laughter, the memories, and ultimately – the experience.

Affordable Luxury with Zero Stress

A little bit of luxury without the premier price tag—or the travel stress.

  • No Traffic, No Parking Woes: Forget about maps and stressful highway traffic. We ensure getting to your vintage journey is smooth and effortless.

  • Indulge Safely: Because you don’t have to worry about driving home from a remote station, you are completely free to indulge in that extra glass of champagne or share a premium bottle of wine with your table.

  • Affordable fine dining:  Crisp white linen tablecloths, polished silver cutlery, and impeccable waiter service awaited.

A Sumptuous Four-Course Feast

From the moment we stepped aboard, we were transported to a more glamorous era. As the train rolled gently through the scenic countryside, beverages flowed, from chilled champagne, signature cocktails, piping hot four course dining with a view.  Impeccable service, and a rural vintage steam train journey blending charm with modern day luxury.

One of the most magical parts of this heritage rail journey was the atmosphere. The warmth in our fully designated carriage as old friends connected with new.

This was such an unforgettable day, with many commenting that they would never have booked this trip on their own due to the hassle of arranging it, pre-booking menu choices, parking, navigating busy one way traffic systems.

The Audience erupted to a song synonymous with Liverpool YNWA

Recalling part of Culture Calendar’s legacy todate, certain evenings stand out as landmarks, and witnessing Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli was without question, one of those unforgettable milestones.

Performing to a captivated audience of over 11,000 guests, the world-renowned tenor delivered a spectacular masterclass in musical storytelling.

Blending Classical Opera and Modern Heritage

Bocelli’s unique gift seamlessly bridges the gap between traditional classical opera and contemporary pop.   His setlist was a beautiful journey, guiding the audience through centuries of musical heritage while keeping his performance fresh and vibrant.

The definitive highlight of the night was when Andrea Bocelli stepped away from his microphone.  Singing with pure, unamplified vocal power – his voice filled the vast arena, leaving thousands of spectators in awe, as he sing with such pure, unamplified vocal power.

An Emotional Legacy: The Bocelli Duet The evening took a personal turn with a heartfelt duet between Andrea and his son, Matteo Bocelli. Matteo brought a modern charisma and incredible vocal talent to the stage.  This added a soulful torch of family history, and not surprisingly, the arena erupted with cheers and applause!  More.  More!

Long before the first note was struck, our evening began with a relaxed pre-concert dinner. Sharing delicious food in elegant surroundings.  An opportunity to connect music lovers, and build anticipation for the performance ahead.

As Culture Calendar evolves into a dedicated hub for creative writing, storytelling, and journaling, we look back at events like the Andrea Bocelli concert not just as entertainment, but as vital chapters in our collective cultural diary. Live music connects us, sparks creative inspiration, and gives us stories that we carry for a lifetime.

Deepen Your Connection to the Arts

The Merseyside music scene has a rich history, from grand operatic performances to intimate spoken-word heritage events. If you love diving into the stories behind the songs, exploring local culture, or discovering creative writing inspired by the arts, you are in the right place.
